What the World Needs Now

It was a great day for a late lunch on the shaded deck of a local pub. Sue, Ann and I enjoyed our un-rushed meal together, catching up on each other’s lives. After our checks came, Ann reached into her purse, stating she was feeling led to leave a big tip. When she pulled out two $10 bills, I immediately thought of another friend and shared how just about every time I’m with her, she gives someone a tip of two $10 bills, telling them the good news of Jesus and quoting His words in John 10:10.

“The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy, but I have come that they may have life and have it more abundantly.” I asked if Ann if it was ok if I shared this with our waitress when she came back for our payments. “Absolutely!” So, I did.  It just so happened that Courtney was the same server we had a few weeks prior, when eight ladies from our Tuesday night Bible study gathered for dinner. It was a busier time that evening and as we were finishing up, I asked Courtney about her tattoos, wondering if she had time to tell me their stories. She had several on her arms and legs and was delighted to tell me all about them.  I then shared with her that I had just one tattoo. For now. It seems like once you get one, another will follow. Courtney laughed in agreement. I turned my wrist over, pointed, and said, “Yeshua. It means Jesus in Hebrew. And what He’d want you to know is that He absolutely adores you...He just can’t help Himself. He died for you, He loves you that much and He wants to be with you forever.” She nodded.  Later, I thanked Courtney for sharing her tattoo stories with me. She responded saying, “Thanks for telling me yours, too!” What the world needs now is love, sweet love... Love’s name is Jesus. Beloved children, our love can’t be an abstract theory we only talk about, but a way of life demonstrated through our loving deeds.“ 1 John 3:18  “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
